Newcastle Delivers Stunning Performance, Overpowering PSG with a 4-1 Victory in UEFA Champions League

Newcastle United, in a remarkable display, triumphed 4-1 against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the UEFA Champions League, leaving the French champions, featuring the superstar Kylian Mbappe, overwhelmed both on and off the pitch.

This victory marked Newcastle’s triumphant return to Europe’s premier competition at St James’ Park, their first home game since a 2-0 loss to Barcelona in March 2003.

Even before Miguel Almiron gave the Toon Army a 17th-minute lead, the atmosphere inside St James’ Park was electric. Almiron’s strike followed PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma’s inability to contain Alexander Isak’s shot, capitalizing on Marquinhos’ costly loss of possession.

An eventful night for Italy’s Donnarumma continued as he tried, in vain, to prevent Dan Burn’s towering header six minutes before halftime. While the ball had clearly crossed the line, Newcastle had to endure a VAR review for potential offside before celebrating the goal.

Donnarumma’s struggles continued as Newcastle extended their lead to three goals five minutes into the second half, with Sean Longstaff’s powerful shot finding the net despite the goalkeeper’s efforts.

Although PSG managed to pull one back with Lucas Hernandez’s header in the 56th minute, the night ultimately belonged to Newcastle from beginning to end.

Swiss center-back Fabian Schar put the finishing touch on the performance in stoppage time by elegantly curling a shot into the top corner from the edge of the box, securing a 4-1 victory.

With this impressive win, Newcastle now tops Group F, following their opening draw against AC Milan.
