Monterey Park shooting

According to authorities, ten individuals died as a result of a shooting at a ballroom dance studio in the Californian city of Monterey Park, which is close to Los Angeles.

According to police, ten more individuals have been hurt, and the culprit is still at large.

On Saturday at at 22:20 local time, there was a shooting (06:20 GMT on Sunday).

To celebrate the Lunar New Year, thousands of people had previously gathered in the city in Monterey Park.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated that they were looking for a male suspect who ran from the scene but gave no further information.

Emergency personnel saw clients “pouring out of the location screaming” when they arrived, according to Captain Andrew Meyer.

Then, police declared that 10 persons had passed away.

At least 10 additional people have suffered injuries and are being treated at nearby hospitals for conditions ranging from critical to stable.

One of the bloodiest shootings in California’s modern history occurred in 1984 at a McDonald’s in San Ysidro, close to San Diego, where a gunman killed 21 people.

The motive for the act was unclear, and the investigators claimed it was too early to determine whether it was a hate crime.

Approximately 60,000 individuals call Monterey Park home, and a sizable Asian community resides there.
