The daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Lilibet, has been baptized, a spokeswoman for the couple confirmed Wednesday.

On June 4, 2021, the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, and Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, announced the birth of their daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. Lilibet, named after Queen Elizabeth II, was born in Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California, U.S.A., and was welcomed with joy by her parents and older brother, Archie.

“I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was baptized on Friday, March 3 by the Rev John Taylor, Archbishop of Los Angeles. Spokesperson of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirm.

According to a report in People magazine, King Charles, Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William, and Catherine, Princess of Wales were invited to the event by Lilibet’s parents but did not show up.

This declaration is the first time the title of princess has been used publicly for Lilibet. As the monarch’s grandson by the male line, she is qualified to receive it according to established protocol.

Upon Lilibet’s birth in June of 2021, Queen Elizabeth II, her great-grandmother, was still in power. She only earned the right to be referred to as a princess when her grandpa Charles became king.
