Elton John Hospitalized Following a Fall at His French Villa
After a tumble at his villa in Nice, music icon Sir Elton John is safely back home following a night spent at the hospital. The 76-year-old singer was taken to the orthopaedic department of the Princess Grace hospital centre in Monaco, where he received care for minor injuries.
Confirming the incident, a spokesperson shared with BBC News, ‘Sir Elton experienced a slip at his residence in the south of France, leading to his precautionary visit to the local hospital.’
The spokesperson further stated, ‘After thorough check-ups, he was promptly discharged this morning and has returned home in great health.’
Throughout the summer, Sir Elton had been enjoying his time in France with his husband David Furnish and their two sons, following the conclusion of his extensive Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in July. Notably, he graced the Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival just a month prior with a performance that spanned his illustrious career.
While the Glastonbury appearance marked a significant moment as his farewell to live touring, the door remains open for occasional one-of-a-kind performances in the future.
Recently, Sir Elton took on the role of a defense witness at Kevin Spacey’s trial, a case that ultimately ended in the actor’s acquittal on charges of sexual assault.
Since the release of his debut album in 1969, Sir Elton has endeared himself as one of the most cherished musicians in the UK, crafting timeless hits such as ‘Tiny Dancer,’ ‘I’m Still Standing,’ ‘Your Song,’ and ‘Are You Ready For Love?’
In 2019, the biographical film ‘Rocketman’ introduced Taron Egerton as the embodiment of the singer, recounting the captivating narrative of Sir Elton’s life and remarkable career.
