Beyoncé Kick Off Renaissance tour in Stockholm Sweden

      Beyoncé Kick Off Renaissance tour

Beyoncé began her 57-date Renaissance World Tour on Wednesday in Stockholm, Sweden, with a futuristic flourish.

The tour is in support of Renaissance, Beyoncé’s seventh studio album released last year. Her solo tour is her first in almost seven years.

It was Beyoncé’s first time ever performing any of the 16 songs from “Renaissance” live when she sung all 16 of them at the tour’s kickoff concert.

She also performed a number of earlier songs from her extensive discography, such as the Grammy-winning “Black Parade,” “Lift Off,” and “Savage Remix,” which she co-wrote with Megan Thee Stallion which reached number one on billboard.

Beyoncé opened the act with four consecutive ballads, including her 2003 single “Dangerously In Love 2,” which was unusual for a performer who is more accustomed to opening her shows with uptempo smash tunes like “Crazy In Love,” “Run the World,” and “Formation.”

Beyoncé then began performing songs from “Renaissance,” complete with futuristic set pieces, robotic limbs, and queer, Black, and trans dance that mirrored the mood and themes of her most recent, critically praised album.

Beyoncé sang “Summer Renaissance,” the album’s last tune, as the show’s finale while mounted a dazzling, crystal horse, reflecting the “Renaissance” album cover, and was lifted over the audience amid a shower of sparkling confetti.
